台湾成功大学特聘教授、地球动力学研究中心主任游镇烽教授在U-Th不平衡系定年法、Sr、Nd、B、Be等同位素的实验测试和实际应用均有杰出的成果，在海洋化学、陆地环境、水环境等方面的环境演化都做出了开拓性的、卓有成效的探索。近年来，将研究领域拓宽到各类非传统同位素（包括Fe、Mg、Ca、Li、Cd、Zn、Cl等）的分析和在地球科学中的应用，其研究方向获得台湾“卓越领航计划”（NSC Science Vanguard，2008-2012）的优先支持。研究成果发表在Nature、GCA、Chem Geol、EPSL、Geology等国际顶尖刊物上。获得过D.Y. Wu memorial award（NSC，2003）、T.Y. Ma metal award（GSC，2000）等奖项。
